On October 18-19, 2019, Lidia Aizikova, a teacher of the Foreign Languages Department together with Yulia Hrytsyshyna and Sofia Matvienko, students of the Faculty of Foreign Philology, participated in the 2019 Access Alumni Summit: 10 Years of the Access Program in Ukraine.
The English Access Microscholarship Program (Access) provides an opportunity for talented youth to learn about U.S. culture and values, deepen their knowledge of the English language, and take an active part in the development of Ukraine. The Access Program in Ukraine works currently in nineteen locations across Ukraine with financial support from the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine.
During the Summit, held at America House, Kyiv, the participants exchanged their Access experience and ways that Access had impacted their lives, including core skills development, engaging in lifelong learning, community service. Alumni shared their views on promoting cooperation between Ukraine and the United States. The participants also worked at developing effective approaches to tackling bullying.
During the Summit, participants had an opportunity to meet with Joseph Pennington, Deputy Chief of Mission, U.S. Embassy in Ukraine; Timothy Collins, RELO, U.S. Embassy; Alyona Sukhinina and Lilia Shylo, RELO Assistants at U.S. Embassy; Andriy Haidamashko, Country Director, PH International Ukraine and Access Program alumni and teachers from all over Ukraine.
